DESIGN DICTIONARY: Bibelot
What is a bibelot?
Basically, it is the cute stuff you want to adorn your coffee table. Many think this term has something to do with books. It doesn't, except for the fact that one often looks very nice placed on top of a book. A bibelot is a small decorative object or trinket. The term comes from the French word "belle" and originated in the late 19th century.
Styling ideas
Of course, trinkets worthy of the term all come down to inspired styling. Books create a terrific pedestal for small objects. They also look great organized on trays. And I love how blogging friend Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo has placed her small objects under glass. Have a look at some styling ideas.
