Right Now: Currently Loving Wallpaper by Sara Story
From time to time I come across a product line that I like so much it makes me hanker for my old days as a decorator, just so I could have the occasion to install it somewhere! Recently that happened with wallpaper designed by Sara Story.
I saw some of Sara's wallpaper designs when I took in an exhibition at Sotheby's that she curated. Sara used her wallpaper as a foil to showcase antiques from a variety of collecting categories. It was a very effective mix of old plus new.
In her first wallpaper collection, Sara reimagined traditional Asian motifs to appeal to a contemporary audience with both classic and edgier tastes.
As you can see, Sara chose her black and white color way for the Sotheby's exhibition, but each pattern in this collection comes in 3 other color ways. My favorites are "Screen" in the Ming color way which adds a hit of orange and "Dragon" in Pop, done on a blue ground.
Sara also used wallpaper from her second wallpaper collection at Sotheby's. Launched in Spring 2015, this collection is inspired by Sara's love of travel and also comes in 4 color ways, each named for a season. The deep, deep navy ground in the Fall color way has such a rich feel to it.
Head over to Sara's website to see all of the wallpapers and for ordering information.
Except for the photos of the wallpaper rolls, which come from Sara's website, all photographs by Lynn Byrne.
