What is a tete-a-tete?

Tete-a-tete: A short piece of furniture such as a small sofa, or two chairs, intended to seat two persons, typically facing one another and often shaped like an S.  Seen in a variety of styles and during many design periods.   Perfect for having  an intimate conversation and named accordingly.  It is seen spelled with hyphens and without hyphens.
