Art at Home: Interior Design by Villalobos & Desio
Time for another edition of how to display art at home. This lovely dining space is from a project located in Coral Gables by the firm Villalobos & Desio. The perfectly placed painting by Rolando Greco sets it off beautifully.
What I like most about Alberto Villalobos and Mercedes Desio is that they call themselves interior designers and storytellers. It is their desire to create a layered, nuanced interior that tells a story about the lives their clients lead, drawing inspiration for their design from their clients' most significant memories. Don't you want to know the back story about that dining room? I sure do.
A little digging around the Villalobos & Desio website didn't disappoint. I knew the duo would have a way with art, and that I would find other great rooms where art makes the space, given their beautifully curated store Etos (did you see that great Jacques Adnettelephone table on offer?). I found several. Here are three favorites:
No surprise, I would love this bedroom with a whimsical lithograph by Murakami holding center stage, given how I spent my freelance writing earnings.
And this photograph by artist Claudia Terstappen paired with what looks like T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings bench is perfect. I can't wait to mine her website because she is a "new to me" artist.
Finally, I couldn't resist the juxtaposition of this large painting by Jean-Marc Louis, the Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chair and that yellow lamp!
So bonus! Villalobos & Desio have given us 4 "rooms of the week" where art makes the space.
Have a great weekend.
